This article pertains to Xenogears: the sub-database of Xenosaga Wiki.

Amphysvena is a purple and black two-headed Omnigear with a long tail seen at Mahanon, Golgoda and Merkava.

There was some controversy as to whose Omnigear this really is: some people say this is actually Karellen's Omnigear, while others argue that it is Ramsus' Omnigear, Vendetta, aligned with a new Anima Relic. However, a translated description on Amphysvena's Xenogears Perfect Works page clearly identifies it as Karellen's Omnigear. This is backed up by the fact that Amphysvena is seen at Mahanon and Golgoda, which are two places that Ramsus does not go to while Karellen does. Karellen gave it to Ramsus to pilot at Merkava because Ramsus can align with any Anima Relic and pilot any Omnigear.

Xenogears[]

When Fei Fong Wong and his friends storm Merkava to try and rescue Elly, Ramsus confronts and fights them for the final time and is defeated. Amphysvena appeared to self-destruct and opened up a hole in the wall with its explosion that allowed Fei to continue onward, however Ramsus managed to survive the Omnigear's probable destruction.

It is unknown if this is the same Gear that Karellen was seen piloting in a flashback 500 years ago or not. Supposing it is Karellen's Omnigear then it has been aligned with the Anima Relic Judah. In a conversation with the Gazel Ministry (aka SOL-9000) Yonelbe (the chief Gazel) lists everyone's name and corresponding Anima Relic. He states all of them, including Karellen's Judah, making Amphysvena, as well as the Gear seen in the flashback, Karellen's gear.

Etymology[]

Amphysvena is likely a mistranslation of Amphisbaena, a mythological, ant-eating serpent with a head at each end.
