Kevin Winnicot
From Xenosaga Wiki
Kevin Winnicot was a Vector Industries scientist, Shion's late fiancee, and the creator of KOS-MOS. Kevin was killed approximately two years before the events of Xenosaga Episode I in an accident that involved KOS-MOS booting up independently and murdering several members of the team assigned to build her by Vector's 2nd Division. Shion and Allen survived the attack and decided to continue the project without Kevin's presence.
Kevin's body is supposedly burried in a graveyard aboard the Dämmerung, which is the flagship and main colony of Vector Industries. However, there is no evidence to prove that Kevin's body is interred in the graveyard.
Kevin Winnicot is in reality the Red Testament, Wilhelm's right-hand man. Shion recognizes his voice when the Testaments appear on the Omega System at the end of Episode II and she later confronts him directly in Episode III where he reveals the truth by unmasking in front of her. He is also thought to be the mysterious child-genius lab assistant of the late Dr. Joachim Mizrahi, who was briefly mentioned by Dr. Juli Mizrahi in Episode I. Kevin's age and the age of the boy mentioned by Juli match exactly; if the boy were presently alive he would be 28 years old, Kevin was supposedly killed two years before Episode I's start at the age of 26. Two years later would make him 28 years old. The boy who apprenticed Mizrahi knew just about everything that Mizrahi himself did, so that could have been one reason why Wilhelm sought him out to build KOS-MOS and become a Testament. A recent trailer for Episode III showed a young Kevin Winnicot on Miltia just before the Miltian Conflict broke out. He is seen with a young Shion planting flowers in a garden, so the two knew each other long before they both joined Vector.
It is also possible that Kevin was the shrouded man who handed the access device to Andrew Cherenkov before the assault of the Vector lab while KOS-MOS was still in her prototype form. Though the supplier's face is mostly concealed, distinctively blue hair can be seen falling across his cheek, as well as facial features similar to those we see in Kevin's scenes with Shion. Kevin would also have unique access to such codes as would be necessary to capture KOS-MOS, making him all the more suspect as the man who seemingly betrayed KOS-MOS to the U-TIC Organization.
According to Xenosaga I&II, his mother (seen in trailers for Episode III) and sister are killed by the Gnosis. Their deaths are the impetus for the creation of KOS-MOS, the Anti-Gnosis battle android. He was also instrumental in drafting Shion into First Division. She was originally going into Third Division, but after Kevin read a thesis she had previously written he pulled some strings and got her assigned to the First Division and the KOS-MOS development project.
