Welcome to this holy confessional. Come in, you filth. There is nothing to fear. No matter what you do, there is no escape from this place. Now confess your sins. I will listen to anything, even from the mouths of foul beasts like you. I see... You do not wish to admit your sins. You will leave me no choice... but to rip you apart.
—Orgulla before the boss battle.

Orgulla is an Ormus operative cyborg who appears during Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Böse.

Biography[]

Orgulla appears to be a handmaiden or assassin working for the Ormus Patriarch Sergius XVII. She is an extremist believer in Ormus' beliefs and Jesus Christ to the extent of wanting to kill sinners.

Originally a specialized cyborg used in U.M.N. transfer experiments, an accident during an experiment led to dissociative identity disorder, yielding split personalities. It isn't entirely certain what happened, but it can be theorized that Sellers was somehow involved, given that Orgulla says "Damn you, Sellers!" when switching personalities.

After subsequent adjustments, she became a battle cyborg in the Patriarch's personal guard, a role well suited to her aggressive personality. Her normal battle form is Eryu, and her alternative form is Manes, likely a reference to Roman mythology.

Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Böse[]

Orgulla first appears near the beginning. She meets with Sergius XVII, addressing him as "Your Holiness" and says she has news concerning the matter of the Y-Data, and that Chief Inquisitor Margulis wishes to convey the details to him directly.

In the Ormus Stronghold, the party encounters Orgulla and she calls them filth and orders them to confess their sins. When Jr. calls her a "damn bitch", she turns hostile.

After the player proceeds to defeat her in the boss battle, she collapses and disappears on the floor and is never seen after that, thus it is deduced that she died.

Etymology[]

The word orgullo is Spanish for "pride," a possible connection to Orgulla's haughty demeanor. With her battle cry of, "Disgusting impure flesh!" it seems that she holds a very extremist form of Gnostic dualism.
